Hi everyone! If you remember back to last year, Mother’s Day was our first gathering in the house since we officially moved in and I took my mom’s request for fried chicken seriously. I made 3 versions for the different eaters in our family, vegetarian (soy milk buttermilk tofu), GF/DF chicken and classic….
I’ve always loved green, just ask my mom. In high school, we re-did my bedroom to remove the nursery style wallpaper and mint green carpet that had been there since we moved in and I promptly requested painting my room a bright green. We struck a compromise when I agreed to paint one of the […]
Since you got a sneak peek in my last post about the upstairs bath, I figured it was about time to talk about our doors. Doors are one of those things that the husband and I both had really strong feelings about…and luckily those feelings didn’t contradict each other.
Well…that took longer than expected. What the husband and I thought would be a weekend project of tiling the surrounding walls in our upstairs hall bath ended up taking about 7 nights…and I’m talking LATE nights. But was it worth it? AB-SO-LUTELY. It was a really gratifying experience learning (well, teaching ourselves really based on […]
Hi there! Happy New Year! I hope you all had a wonderful New Year’s celebration. The husband and I spent the weekend assembling and hanging our IKEA cabinet boxes (more on that later) and it was a long weekend of really late nights, but it’s been so worth it!
We’ve had a really busy last couple of weeks at the house with one of the biggest, most anticipated steps finally being completed…THE FLOORS WENT IN! After much hemming and hawing about potentially installing the floors ourselves, we decided that our old crappy sub-floor on the main floor was reason enough to spend the money and have the professionals do it. We found an awesome local company, Green Wood Guys, to install the floors and they not only did so at a reasonable price, they took the time to figure out how to properly lay the weird product we purchased (the boards were essentially glued/finger-jointed smaller boards assembled into 8′ boards and they needed to figure out how to lay the boards so that the seams didn’t meet too much). If you’re in the market for refinishing your floors or installing new floors, we highly recommend these guys!
Anyway, without further ado, I give you THE FLOORS!
Sorry for being a bit MIA the last couple of weeks, things have been a bit crazy around here! There has been MAJOR progress on our (not so) Little House on a Hill that I’m super excited to share with you…WE HAVE WALLS! And I’m not talking just framing…like actual, real-life, solid walls that you […]
Happy Turkey Day! I hope you’re all preparing yourself for good times with good people and delicious absurd amounts of food tomorrow! Sorry for the lack of updates last week it was a CRAZY one filled with really late nights, countless trips to Home Depot (or “the Deeps” as the husband and I lovingly refer […]
One of the rooms that I’m perhaps most looking forward to seeing come to life is my craft room/office. It’s the one room that I’m really taking a bit of a risk in and we’re going to be PAINTING THE CEILING! I know **gasp**! It’s the next best thing to wallpapering the ceiling which the husband […]
As those of you who have been following along know, the husband and I ordered our kitchen months ago and to answer the question you’re all wondering, no, the walls were not fully framed and completed prior to ordering (I know, this was a major risk). Luckily for us, we didn’t have to make too many modifications to […]
