CITRINE DREAM

I’ve always loved green, just ask my mom.  In high school, we re-did my bedroom to remove the nursery style wallpaper and mint green carpet that had been there since we moved in and I promptly requested painting my room a bright green.  We struck a compromise when I agreed to paint one of the […]

FRIED CHICKEN & REUPHOLSTERING

Well, I’m REALLY late on this post but what the heck, life (aka work) gets in the way of the things we want to do sometimes.  We hosted our first family gathering complete with homemade fried chicken (per my mom’s request) and other deliciousness for Mother’s Day in May and I was super excited to […]

ONE YEAR AND COUNTING!

Hi everyone!  It’s been a while 🙂  Life has gotten a bit crazy as my day job has gotten super busy which makes blogging on a fairly regular basis difficult.  But summer is here!  And with that comes a bit more time to do stuff we want to do…well…hopefully…at least that’s the goal, right?  I’m going to […]

BLACK DOORS

My 2 biggest mantras throughout this renovation have been “just go for it” and “it’s only paint.”

WHEN A KITCHEN ISLAND NEARLY FALLS ON YOU…

Plans are important when you’re doing a renovation, but as I’ve been told in the past “planning is everything but plans are nothing” (or something like that).  Our plan for the last week was to bang out the framing and trimming of the windows (at least the upstairs ones) so that we could bring our […]

WELL…WE DID IT!

It’s kind of surreal, and feels super weird, but we officially did it. We moved in to our (not so little) House on a Hill this weekend! 🎉🍾🥂 It’s hard to believe that the husband and I bought our first house less than a year ago with this crazy idea and here we are. It […]

COUNTER TOPS AND CABINET FRONTS ARE IN!

So I was going to wait until we installed the pulls to give you all a peek at the cabinets and our gorgeous new counter tops but I simply cannot wait any longer.  The counter tops have arrived and I am officially OBSESSED.  And did I mention that we installed the cabinet fronts too??   The husband and I still have a lot of work to do in the kitchen (install the toe-kick, attach all of the pulls, install the vent hood, trim the window, tile the back splash, install sconce over the sink/window, attach the island to the floor and finish the body of it, find a counter top for the island….the list keeps going trust me) but it is an incredible feeling to have the room that I’ve been dreaming about for so long finally start functioning as it should.

DOORS. DOORS. DOORS.

Since you got a sneak peek in my last post about the upstairs bath, I figured it was about time to talk about our doors. Doors are one of those things that the husband and I both had really strong feelings about…and luckily those feelings didn’t contradict each other.

UPSTAIRS BATH PART 2 – SHOWER WALLS

Well…that took longer than expected.  What the husband and I thought would be a weekend project of tiling the surrounding walls in our upstairs hall bath ended up taking about 7 nights…and I’m talking LATE nights.  But was it worth it?  AB-SO-LUTELY.  It was a really gratifying experience learning (well, teaching ourselves really based on […]

NICKEL SPACED WHAT?

One of the many DIY projects on our list was a shiplap wrapped fireplace.  If you read about our powder room you know that we installed actual tongue-and-groove shiplap on those walls, but this would be a bit different.  Since the vibe we’re going for in most of the house is kind of a mid-century […]
